The Numazu Fishmarket Taproom is where it all began for Baird Beer. The heart and soul, blood, sweat and tears of our enterprise reside here. Opened in July 2000, the Numazu Fishmarket Taproom spent many years being ignored by the locals. Fortunately, though, a friendly neighborhood atmosphere, characterful beer, terrific beer-inspired food, and matchless camaraderie seem to have won out. The fact that our prices are the most reasonable for craft beer and food anywhere in Japan is a plus, too.
The Numazu Fishmarket Taproom is where you will find the brewers and owner-partners of Baird Beer drinking on a regular basis. Come visit us for a friendly pint and some great banter!
Our location is on Minato-Ohashi Dori overlooking the Numazu fish market.
●Train Directions
If you are visiting us by train, Numazu Station is where you want to disembark.
- Tokaido Line. Numazu is on the Tokaido Line between Odawara and Shizuoka.
- Shinkansen. The nearest Shinkansen station is Mishima, so disembark at Mishima, and change to the Tokaido Line. Numazu Station is just one stop away.
●Walking from Numazu Station
Take the South Exit. From the south side of Numazu Station, we are a 25-to-30 minute walk down Sansan-Dori (sansan street) to Numazu Harbor. We are directly across the street from the fish market inner harbor.
●Taxi or Bus
Take the South Exit. Five minute cab ride, or 10 minute bus ride. Take the Izuhakone Bus departing from Terminal #1 and get off at the Numazu Port (Numazu-Ko) stop.
●Automobile
If you come by car, there is general parking available in the fish market area across the street from the Taproom.
●Hotels
If you are interested in spending the night in Numazu, below are three recommendations:
- Suihoen (Tel. 055-963-1907): Japanese-style minshuku just short walk from Taproom.
- Sanco Inn (Tel. 055-954-3577) (www.sanco-inn.jp/numazu): Affordable business hotel near Numazu Station.
- Tokyu Hotel (Tel. 055-952-2411) (www.numazu-h.tokyuhotels.co.jp): Nice, large hotel near Numazu Station.
