The Baird Brewing Company inaugurated business in 2000 as a small brewery-pub, called the Numazu Fishmarket Taproom, located in the fish market area of Numazu city. The husband-wife team of Bryan and Sayuri Baird manned the small operation by themselves : Bryan brewing up Baird Beer in the tiny back-room brewery (30-liter batch sizes), and Sayuri cooking up the fresh beer-inspired cuisine.
Several years and expansions later, Baird Brewing still owns and operates the Numazu Fishmarket Taproom, but as a stand-alone pub (the brewery is now housed in a separate, larger location within the fish market area). We also have opened other Taproom locations in Japan and we plan to add more in the future.
The mission of our brewery-owned and brewery-operated Taprooms is simple: maximum customer enjoyment of the Baird Beer experience. The fresh food, the warm natural décor of wood, brick and stone, the characterful music and, most of all, the sociable interaction with other mature beer-loving adults, all work to enhance the quality of the overall beer experience.
