Dear Taproom Friend & Baird Beer Enthusiast:
Thursday, April 24 marks the Taproom debut of the next Baird seasonal brew – Bureiko Jikan Original Ale. In Japanese, “Bureiko Jikan” is the time when the chains of hierarchy and conformity break away and real feelings, without the threat of recrimination, get expressed. This is an occasion normally facilitated by an alcohol lubricant. Baird Beer’s contribution to the facilitation of this important moment comes in the form of a dangerously quaffable, fruitily robust and outrageously delicious Belgian-inspired ale.
Bureiko Jikan Original Ale is made with a large dosage of candy sugar, which lends a dry sweetness and hot alcoholic punch. The flavor is redolent of dried fruit (apricots? oranges?). Soft earthy undertones from generous late and dry-hop additions of East Kent Golding and Czech Saaz hops round out the flavor profile. This is a very approachable and refreshing beer for all its complexity and alcoholic strength (approx. 6.5%). After a few pints of Bureiko, relax and don’t worry — everything will be forgiven!
If the new beer isn’t enough to lure you to the Taproom, perhaps an acoustic live performance by our local friends, Ben and James, will. Expect some Dave Matthews and Counting Crows, among other, covers from this dynamic duo.
