Dear Taproom Friend & Baird Beer Enthusiast:
We are pleased to announce the addition of two new beers to the regular lineup of Baird Beer: Gold Rush Amber Ale and Shimaguni Stout. Gold Rush, a Steam-inspired beer, replaces Bay Steam (sorry Steam lovers) in our regular lineup. Shimaguni Stout, a classic Irish-style dry stout, heretofore brewed as a spring seasonal, becomes the sixth member of the Baird Beer regular lineup. Detailed beer descriptions follow:
*Gold Rush Amber Ale: The ‘Steam’ style of beer was born in California during the gold rush era in the mid-19th century. A ‘Steam’ is a lager beer fermented at an elevated ale-type temperature. Our tribute to this unique style of beer is just the reverse: Gold Rush Amber is an ale fermented at a lower, lager-type temperature. Like a ‘Steam,’ Gold Rush combines a crisp lager refreshingness with a robust ale fruitiness. A lovely citrus-pine hop character is present from start to finish.
– Malt: Marris Otter Pale Ale, Wheat, Crystal
– Hops: Nugget, Simcoe, Cascade, Crystal
– O.G.: 1.054
– Alcohol by Vol.: Approximately 5.4%
*Shimaguni Stout: This is the Baird version of the quintessential Irish beer style: Dry Stout. The pitch-black color and rich, roasty dryness belie the relatively low gravity and alcohol content of this stout. Japan and Ireland, in addition both to being ‘island countries,’ now have one more thing in common great, locally brewed dry stout!
– Malt: Marris Otter Pale Ale, Wheat, Carahell, Black, Roast Barley
– Hops: Simcoe, Perle, Cascade
– O.G.: 1.046
– Alcohol by Vol.: Approximately 4.6%
