New Classic Beers: Big Red Machine & Poor Boy Brown Porter

November 10, 2006

Dear Taproom Friend & Baird Beer Enthusiast:

The fall procession of seasonal beer offerings continues with the 2006
release of two Baird Classic Beer Series ales: Big Red Machine Fall Classic Ale and Poor Boy Brown Porter.

(1) Big Red Machine Fall Classic Ale (ABV approximately 6.2%):

Brewed initially in 2005 as a 30-year salute to the great Cincinnati Reds
(Big Red Machine) world series champion team of 1975, Baird Big Red Machine Fall Classic Ale is a brawny brew in the depth and richness of its malt character. The malt muscle, however, is balanced beautifully by a wonderfully sprite hop character. This brew is the perfect antidote to a
chilly autumn evening.

(2) Poor Boy Brown Porter (ABV approximately 5.2%):

This is our inaugural batch of Poor Boy Brown Porter. Despite being lower in gravity and alcohol, lighter in color, and less hoppy than a robust porter, Poor Boy Brown Porter requires no sympathy. Proud of its long heritage in the annals of British brewing history, Poor Boy Brown Porter brings to the pint glass a luscious malt richness enhanced by an earthy and organic sort of hop character. British brewing genius lies in the production of ales moderate to light in alcoholic content but rich in
complexity and flavor. Poor Boy Brown Porter epitomizes this genius.

Both ales currently are on tap at the Fishmarket Taproom in Numazu. The Brown Porter is draught only but a limited number of bottles of the Fall Classic Ale are available for purchase direct from the brewery or through select Baird Beer retailers.

Cheers!

Bryan Baird
