Dear Taproom Friend & Baird Beer Enthusiast:
The Nakameguro Taproom is joining hands with the Beers for Books organization (www.beersforbooks.org) to raise money for the Room to Read charity which purchases books for poverty-stricken kids in third world countries. All day long on Sunday, October 11, the Nakameguro Taproom will donate 100 yen per Baird Beer pint sold (and 11% of revenue generated from other dirnk sales) to the Room to Read charity. Event details are listed below.
.
Booktoberfest at Nakameguro Taproom (Sunday, October 11, noon to close):
*Charity book sale
*Beer Quiz with the winner awarded a Taproom Baird Beer half-pint drink card (value 6,500 yen)
*Guess the number of hops in the jar contest (winner awarded a Baird Beer t-shirt)
*Donations to Room to Read of 100 yen per Baird Beer pint sold (and 11% of other drink revenue)
This is a terrific cause and the event promises to be as enjoyable as it is constructive. Sayuri and I will be in attendance following the Craft Brewer’s Festival in Sumidagawa. Please plan on joining us for a pint or two. We also will be making use of the event to tap a fantastic fall seasonal brew: Baird Imperial Pils.
*Baird Imperial Pils (ABV 7.0%):
A classically brewed pilsner is a crsip and dryly refreshing lager with a notable hop accent. Baird Imperial Pils is brewed in reverence of this historical style, only we add more of everything (more malt, more hops, more yeast). This yields a pilsner with higher gravity, higher alcohol, more bitterness, greater aroma and strengthened flavor. The crisp, dry and quenching character of a standard pilsner, however, is kept wonderfully in tact. For those of you who want it all in a beer, this is your brew!
Baird Imperial Pils will be availalbe on draught at pubs and restaurants in Japan beginning Saturday, October 10. 633 ml bottles will be available for purchase at liquor shops also beginning Saturday, October 10.
Cheers!
Bryan Baird
